Repatriation Guide-Malaysia

OVERVIEW

Malaysia is a predominantly Muslim country. The repatriation process is relatively well established, and consular verification from the Malaysian Embassy in Korea is required.

✓  Copy of the deceased’s passport and alien registration card

✓  Certificate of embalming

✓  Non-contagious disease certificate

✓  Consular verification from the Malaysian Embassy in Korea

EMBALMING REQUIREMENT

Embalming is required for air transport. The certificate issued afterwards forms part of the customs documentation.

CASKET · PACKAGING

A casket meeting international transport standards is required. Some airlines may have additional packaging requirements, which we confirm at the time of booking.

CONSULAR PROCEDURE

Death-related documents must be verified by the Malaysian Embassy in Korea. This step usually takes one to two days.

ESTIMATED TIMELINE

Approximately 5 days, once all documents are in place.

NOTES

Where the deceased is Muslim, an Islamic washing (ghusl) and prayer must be performed at a mosque. We coordinate this in accordance with the family’s wishes.
