SITUATION
A Pakistani national living in Korea passed away in hospital following an illness. His wife and family were in Korea.
REQUEST
His wish had been to be buried in his homeland, Pakistan, where his relatives are — and so the family asked for his repatriation.
WHAT WE DID
01 Obtained the death certificate from the hospital and organized the required documents.
02 As the deceased was Muslim, the Islamic washing (ghusl) and prayer were performed at a mosque.
03 Coordinated with the Pakistan Embassy in Korea and completed the consular verification.
04 Embalmed the deceased and placed him in a casket meeting international transport standards.
05 Completed the airline cargo booking and customs procedures.
06 Confirmed that the family received him on arrival in Pakistan.
TIMELINE
Approximately 3 days.
NOTES
The religious procedures differ from those of other countries. The Islamic washing and prayer were carried out faithfully and thoroughly by an imam.
